Welcome to Common Sense Factor Kids: Building Practical Life Skills, One Page at a Time
Welcome to the very first Common Sense Factor Kids blog post!
I’m excited to officially begin sharing the journey behind Common Sense Factor Kids—a growing educational series created right here in Sarnia, Ontario, to help children explore practical life skills through engaging colouring and activity books.
This blog will be a place to share new books, free activities, behind-the-scenes updates, community projects, educational ideas, and the people and organizations helping bring this vision to life.

1. Why Common Sense Factor Kids?
Children are naturally curious.
They ask questions, enjoy solving problems, and love discovering how the world around them works.
Common Sense Factor Kids was created to encourage that curiosity by introducing practical, everyday topics in a fun, age-appropriate way that families can enjoy together.
Rather than simply colouring pictures, children are encouraged to ask questions, explore their surroundings, and build confidence through conversation and hands-on activities.
2. More Than One Book
Home Awareness is the first title in a growing series that will introduce children to practical topics including:
Fire Safety
Skilled Trades Awareness
Financial Literacy
Healthy Living
Community Awareness
Nature Awareness
Senior Safety
Each book is designed to encourage curiosity while helping children better understand the world around them.
3. One Book. Two Good Outcomes
One of the things that makes Common Sense Factor Kids unique is our Community Campaign.
Every qualifying Home Awareness book purchased helps children build practical life skills while supporting participating local community organizations.
As the campaign grows, we’ll be sharing updates, community partners, sponsors, and the impact we’re making together.
4. Follow the Journey
This blog is where I’ll share:
New book announcements
Community events
Free educational activities
Parent and educator resources
Behind-the-scenes updates
Community Campaign milestones
Stories from the families and organizations we meet along the way
I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you.
Thank you for being here from the very beginning.
